Laniado Hospital Leads the Nation in Emergency Care Performance

Ministry of Health Report Ranks Laniado Hospital’s Emergency and Pediatric Emergency Departments Among Israel’s Top Performers

A newly released report by Israel’s Ministry of Health on national healthcare budgeting and performance places the Emergency Department and Pediatric Emergency Department at the Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital among the top-performing units in the country.

The report, which evaluates hospitals based on nationally established clinical and nursing benchmarks, highlights outstanding achievements at Laniado across multiple key indicators. These include emergency care response times, triage efficiency, and performance within the hospital’s IVF unit.

According to the report, 99% of patients visiting Laniado’s general Emergency Department were examined by a physician within one hour of registration, ranking the hospital first nationwide in this category. In addition, 93% of patients underwent initial triage within 15 minutes, earning Laniado second place nationally for this critical metric.

Similar excellence was recorded in the Pediatric Emergency Department, where 99% of patients were seen by a physician within one hour, again placing Laniado first among all hospitals in Israel. The report further notes that 95% of pediatric patients received initial triage within 15 minutes, ranking the hospital second nationwide.

The Ministry of Health report also reviewed the performance of IVF units across the country, examining both growth in activity and patient choice of physician within the public healthcare system. Laniado’s IVF Unit demonstrated significant growth during 2023–2024 and ranked second nationwide in patient choice of physician, with 79% of patients selecting their treating doctor—a notable indicator of trust and satisfaction.

Professor Tzvi Shimoni, Medical Director of the Sanz Medical Center–Laniado Hospital, stated: “This is not the first time our emergency departments have received such high evaluations. In the recent past, we ranked first nationally for triage within five minutes, and just last month we were ranked first in the Ministry of Health’s patient experience survey. The dedication and professionalism of our teams continue to earn the recognition they deserve. The high rating for physician choice in our IVF unit reflects the exceptional flexibility and quality of care within this complex system—it is truly a badge of honor.”

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, added: “Work in the emergency departments demands immediate response while maintaining the highest clinical standards. Achieving first and second place nationally speaks volumes about our exceptional teams. It is especially noteworthy given the challenging infrastructure conditions in which they operate—crowded facilities and limited space. Despite these constraints, the staff consistently delivers outstanding care. We are proud to announce that construction of our flagship project—a fully fortified, state-of-the-art emergency medical center—is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. This major development, encompassing thousands of square meters, will enable us to continue providing outstanding medical care in modern, protected facilities. Congratulations to all our dedicated teams.”
