New Leadership

Dr. Michael Kogan, a specialist in emergency medicine, has been appointed Head of the Emergency Medicine Department at Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital. The department, which handles approximately 90,000 visits annually, is among the busiest in Israel and provides medical care in the surgical, orthopedic, cardiology, and internal medicine fields, as well as operating a dedicated ambulatory care unit.

Dr. Kogan previously served as a senior physician in the Emergency Medicine Department at Sheba Medical Center. He is a certified emergency medicine specialist and completed both his subspecialty training in emergency medicine and his residency in internal medicine at Sheba Medical Center.

Dr. Kogan assumes his new role at a critical juncture for the department, as Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital is currently in the final stages of receiving approval to launch its flagship project: the construction of a fortified Emergency Medicine Hospital Wing spanning 4,000 square meters. Aware of the hospital’s long-term development plans, Dr. Kogan said, “I’m a marathon runner by nature—long-term challenges are what interest me. That’s why I chose to come here, to a very busy and demanding department, and to take part in a major undertaking such as building a fortified emergency hospital. This is a project that will unfold over several years. Our team will be part of the planning process to ensure the facility enables the delivery of lifesaving primary care along with maximum comfort for patients and their families. My role here at Laniado, as an emergency medicine specialist and department head, carries significant weight—both in routine times and in emergencies.”

Prof. Zvi Shimony, Medical Director of Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital, welcomed Dr. Kogan to his new role, stating: “We are recruiting experienced and highly regarded medical professionals in order to provide high-quality medical care. This mission is one we take very seriously and one in which we invest considerable resources for the benefit and health of the approximately half-million residents of Netanya and the Sharon region.”

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital, congratulated Dr. Kogan on his appointment and added: “The Emergency Medicine Department at Sanz Medical Center – Laniado Hospital is one of the most challenging in Israel. We receive an enormous number of patient visits, and the trust placed in us by patients and their families is immense. This is evidenced by the recent Ministry of Health Patient Experience Report, in which our hospital received the highest score in Israel—88%. We are on the eve of excavation and foundational work for the mega-project: the construction of a fortified emergency hospital that will ensure continuous functionality for the entire medical center, even during emergencies such as Operation Am Kol Lavi. This project will span several years and require an enormous financial investment, but we are undeterred. With God’s help, we will build it for the benefit of the half-million residents of Netanya and the Sharon region.”
